Description
Sited on McGuffey Hill in downtown Charlottesville between the
McGuffey Art Center and Beck’s Hill in an old neighborhood a
block north of the Downtown Mall, the 38 McGuffey Hill
Condominium units blend into the wooded hillside and can barely
be seen from the adjoining city streets. These condominiums
feature gable roofs, varied designs and floorplans and sit among
mature trees and plantings. The area was named in honor of
William Holmes McGuffey, the renowned educator and professor at
the University of Virginia who developed the famed reading
instruction method of the mid-1800s known as the McGuffey
Reader.
