Valuable Information for Homeowner
Satellite Dish Guidelines

We realize how difficult it can be getting a satellite dish
installed at your home. It can involve waiting weeks for the
first service date and then taking off work to make sure you’re
home for the visit. The last thing you want is to have your dish
installation delayed or denied by your association board or
architectural review committee. Here are a few tips to reduce
delays and headaches.
FCC Information Sheet: Over-the-Air
Reception Devices Rule

This information sheet contains information from the FCC about
your rights to utilize satellites and antennas. Owners are
encouraged to be cognizant of these regulations in the context
of their association rules and architectural processes.
Robert's Rules of Order

Meetings of the general membership or the board of directors of
your association are structured as business meetings with rules
of order. Each community has variations and traditions, but most
utilize Robert’s Rules of Order © to insure continuity as the
leadership and membership changes. Owners are strongly
encouraged to become familiar with rules such as these in order
to be more comfortable and effective at community meetings.
Managing Canada Geese In Urban
Environments
Many of our communities have beautiful lakes and ponds that are
increasingly populated by geese. Owners frequently voice
concerns about the growing numbers and collateral effects of
geese on shorelines and around yards. This guide provides
information about the management of geese and can educate
members about this complicated, systemic process.
Virginia Condominium Act

All condominium associations are governed by their bylaws – your
“condo documents” received at purchased. Condo Associations and
managing agents must also be cognizant of other condo
requirements contained in the statues of the Commonwealth of
Virginia. Owners are encouraged to know their bylaws and know
the statues that apply to condominium associations.
Virginia Property Owners Association Act

This is the set of statutes or laws enacted by the Commonwealth
of Virginia that govern the rights and responsibilities of
owners of property in homeowner associations.
